Bus Story: Sit! Stay! Good Boy.

September 12, 2011

Gray light this morning on the ride in. With the weather we’ve been having, it’s a little ominous of storms, but forecast is for sunshine so it may just be that someone hasn’t turned the dimmer switch up yet. Out of the bus window, I see a big burly man, wearing shorts, polo shirt and flip-flops arrive at a pet clinic. They are not open yet, and he’s making a call on his cell phone. All the while, he carefully holds a cat carrier, resplendent in two shades pink. My thoughts are with him and the imagined white Persian in the carrier named Miss Bitsy Fluffymittens. Turning from the window, I notice a Sullen Teen sitting opposite. He’s draped across two seats as one might expect, in baggy everything, with shoes unlaced (or totally lacking laces, I can’t see well enough). His black hair is very straight, long in the front, and is hanging down over his eyes. Occasionally, he swipes it away enough to see where we are, and then lets it fall back. It’s a good thing he’s in here and Miss Fluffymittens is safe in her pink carrier; I’d hate to think what would happen if Sheepdog Boy was in a confined space with a cat.
