Bus Story: A Documented Shadow

July 19, 2011

Big change this evening, with warm air and blue skies after a morning of dark, licorice soft-serve clouds. An anxious young man with shiny flaxen hair fidgets and makes the smartly dressed, but badly made-up, woman next to him nervous. Perhaps she tried putting on rouge and eyeliner while her seat neighbor was squirming and that’s why she looks like she was given a makeup plan by Collier Strong if he was three-sheets to the wind. Fidget Guy pulls a ream of paper out of his messenger bag and reviews page after page, becoming more agitated with each document. If he vibrates any faster, he’s likely to set the paper on fire. Given the agita the stuff is causing him, torching it might not be a bad idea. Then perhaps the woman next to him can truly have the “smokey eye” that seems to be ubiquitous on runways.
