Bus Story: Birds of a Feather

April 1, 2011

Up and out at oh-dark-thirty, going in early to help execs with a team reward. Climbed aboard the ole 54, greeted by an upbeat Driver Guy with a great radio voice. Almost immediately, I noticed something about the ridership, in general – there was something similar about many of them. They are generally older women, hair pulled back or up, glasses, nicely dressed if a little out of style, and reading books. The bus isn’t that crowded, so to have a number of them together caught my attention. I can imagine the call going out to Central Casting for a squad of Classic Librarians. I’m just glad they didn’t request a troop of Deranged Axe-Wielding Babysitters, or a mob of Mutant Cyborg Insectivoids from Not-A-Planet-Anymore Pluto.
