Bus Story: Transit Bus vs Revival Tent

October 12, 2010

There have been some revisions to bus services in the neighborhood and today, the ole 54 shows the impact – most have seats, but it’s a tighter squeeze than in the past. And I see some new faces whose routes were affected. One of those is a very tall, older gentleman. He’s probably 6′ 2″ or so and in his late sixties. He has thin gray hair, a jowly face and big, thick glasses. He’s wearing one of those mid-thigh length black trench coats, dress slacks, white shirt and no tie. Add to the look is an affixed expression of superior disdain mixed with righteous anger. I get the feeling he’s an extreme evangelist preacher who is temporarily without a tent. Hopefully, he won’t see the seats and aisle of the bus and think he’s running a revival meeting. While a little gospel singing and neighbor greeting would get the blood going this morning, I don’t think I could take the fire and brimstone bit. At least not without my first cup of coffee.
