Bus Story: Delicate Stomp

February 17, 2010

It’s a peaceful enough trip home; my fellow riders have that working-day-when-will-winter-end sense about them. Last stop downtown and our world is shaken. Thud! Clump! Thud! Clump! Collectively, our heads jerk up and we look for the source of the pile-driver-esque sound, expecting Paul Bunyon, Hulk, or at least an ogre. Nope. Instead we see a rail-thin woman, stylishly dressed and wearing very spendy, almost delicate looking shoes. And she is stomping her way up the aisle. Either she thinks she’s on some couture runway or she learned deportment from the Lipizzaner Stallions. Tally-ho!
